Employee mental health and well-being are among the areas where employers in Slovakia generally view remote work positively. At the same time, mental health support is not yet a standard part of workplace practice, as most organisations do not implement any preventive measures in this area.

Remote work is generally seen as beneficial for employees’
mental health and well-being

In Slovakia, 58% of organisations perceive remote work as beneficial for employees’ mental health and well-being. Around 19% see no clear positive or negative effect, while 7% perceive a negative effect.

The highest shares of organisations perceiving remote work as beneficial for mental health and well-being are found in Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities (61%) and in the group of other industries (also 61%). In Information and Communication, the corresponding share is 56%. In Manufacturing, it is lower, but still reaches 44%.

Remote work is most often associated with lower work-related stress

Employers in Slovakia most commonly perceive work-related stress as lower when employees work remotely than when they work entirely on-site. This was reported by 43% of organisations. Around 32% see the level of stress as roughly unchanged, while only 7% perceive it as higher. A further 18% of respondents did not answer the question.

The highest share of organisations reporting lower work-related stress is found in…in Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities (58%). In Information and Communication, around half of organisations (50%) perceive stress as lower when employees work remotely, while the corresponding share in Manufacturing is 47%. Across all industries, only a relatively small share of respondents perceive work-related stress as higher under remote work arrangements.
